It was not long after the big pet food recall in March 2007, I became concerned about what my dog, Chloe, eats and decided to read the ingredients on the store bought treats that I was feeding her. I was amazed at the long list of ingredients listed, most I couldn't even pronounce.

I researched some of the ingredients and learned most were artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and fillers. What was more alarming was that many of the ingredients, especially preservatives, can cause cancer, kidney disease, allergies and hair loss in dogs. It was then that I decided that Chloe deserved much better and I went in search of it.

I found several expensive brands of treats that companies claimed to be all natural but learned that they too contained artificial preservatives.

At this point, I decided I would use my passion for baking and make Chloe her very own treats. This way I could control exactly what went into them and assure a healthy, natural product that was safe for my girl.

Chloe loved these treats so much; we began to share them with our four-legged neighbors and family members who also gave them raving reviews!

Since day one, I've dreamed of opening my own "BARKery" so that Chloe and I can share our safe and healthy treats with your furry children. Who knows, you may even like them yourself!
